The cottage is at one end of a terrace of four fishermens cottages, a few minutes' walk from the main part of the village. Access to the beach is merely a short walk of about 100 yards along the lane and up over the dunes. A lifeguard patrols a designated area of the beach in summer. The cottage is surrounded by farmland with open views to front and rear; the overflow car park for the main beach access is diagonally opposite but the field seldom has more than a few cars on it, especially during the week. There's also an excellent children's playground just a few minutes' walk from the cottage.
Sea Palling has two pubs, both of which serve food, an excellent Post Office-cum-village-stores, and is well placed for exploring this part of Norfolk by car, bike or on foot. The Broads are close by and Norwich is about 40 minutes drive away. Fresh fish is often for sale locally and anglers can fish from the beach or, in season, from bank or boat on the Broads. There are numerous museums, National Trust properties and other attractions for both adults and children within easy driving distance, as well as many pretty villages and various nature reserves to explore.
